About the project

CHARGE brings together leading academic and industrial partners to address key challenges limiting the large-scale deployment of SOECs, including material degradation, high stack costs, and operation under dynamic renewable energy conditions. By combining advanced cell materials, low-cost coated interconnects, impurity mitigation strategies, and innovative AC:DC operation, the project aims to significantly extend stack lifetime and reduce the levelized cost of hydrogen.

The CHARGE project is funded under the Clean Energy Transition Partnership (CETP) Joint Call 2024, within the call module Hydrogen & Renewable Fuels. CETP supports transnational research and innovation projects that accelerate the clean energy transition in Europe by bridging fundamental research, applied development, and industrial deployment, with a strong focus on impact, scalability, and alignment with European climate and energy objectives.
